This is a timeline of historical, real-world events involving Happy Tree Friends.

1988-1998[]

1988 Mondo Media Incorporation was founded.
September to November Mondo Mini Shows was launched and Happy Tree Friends directly and originally went into development likely during this time (first from September 1998), first with the pilot episode until it finishes in May 1999. Episodes 1 to 3 of Season 1 also slowly began development in late 1998 to late 1999/early 2000.

1999[]

May 15, 1999[citation needed] A Happy Tree Friends pilot, titled Banjo Frenzy, was finished. Mondo Media greenlit the series.
Mid–Late 1999 Happy Tree Friends entered production likely during this time.
December 25, 1999 Spin Fun Knowin' Ya was released, marking the debut of the Happy Tree Friends internet series and the debuts of Cuddles, Giggles, Toothy, and Lumpy.
December 31, 1999 House Warming was released, marking the debuts of Petunia and Handy.

2000[]

January 7, 2000 Helping Helps was released, marking the debut of Splendid and the first episode to mark the return of a previously dead character.
January 28, 2000 Crazy Ant-ics was released, marking the debuts of Sniffles and The Ants.
February 4, 2000 Havin' A Ball was released, marking the debuts of Pop and Cub.
February 11, 2000 Water You Wading For was released, marking the debut of Flaky and introducing her relationship with Cuddles.
February 18, 2000 Nuttin' Wrong with Candy was released, marking the debut of Nutty, and Wheelin' and Dealin' was also released, marking the debuts of Lifty, Shifty, and the Generic Tree Friends.
March 3, 2000 Pitchin' Impossible was released, marking the debut of The Mole.

September 1, 2005 The TV series, Happy Tree Friends and Friends, debuted on G4 in the United States. This series showcased the early Happy Tree Friends internet shorts alongside some other internet series.
September 29, 2005 From A to Zoo was released, concluding Internet Season 2 and beginning an in-between-season hiatus for the internet series.
Late 2005 The HTF Breaks were produced during this time, though they would not be released for several years.

July 28, 2023 Mondo Media released a blurred teaser, that supposedly features a new or unreleased episode.
