General Trivia

• Despite being a skunk, her "fart" has ironically never been used. Admittedly, she does spray Disco Bear with something in Blind Date though it is most likely pepper spray/mace.
  • She "used" another's (Splendid's) fart in Breaking Wind, causing a huge explosion.
• Giggles and Petunia are waitresses at the Happy Tree Cafe. Giggles is seen working there in Concrete Solution and Petunia is seen working there in A Change of Heart.
• She developed a relationship with Handy in the episode I Nub You.
• The Love Bites short I Heart U shows that she might be in love with Mime. She has also been seen with Mime in Who's to Flame? and Easy Comb, Easy Go.
• Petunia can be seen without her flower on her head in Flippin' Burgers, I Get a Trick Out of You, Wishy Washy, Dunce Upon a Time, As You Wish, I Nub You, Reindeer Kringle, and Kringle Feast.
• Petunia's Season 1 intro is very similar to Cuddles' Season 1 intro, as they are both shown waving in similar positions.
• Her OCD has appeared in one starring role for every female character: herself in Wishy Washy, Giggles in Home Is Where the Hurt Is, Lammy in Royal Flush, and Flaky in Wingin' It.
• Petunia is the fourth character to come back to life in another episode after dying, as she died in Pitchin' Impossible and appeared in the very next episode Stayin' Alive.
• In the original storyboard of the episode Wrath of Con, Petunia was supposed to have the lightsaber instead of Giggles. The editors changed it for unknown reasons.
• She was the first person to meet Lammy, as shown in Lammy's debut episode A Bit of a Pickle.
• She shares the same voice actresses as Giggles and Cub.

  

  Petunia, one of the most commonly appearing characters, is not in the complete edition.

• She and Splendid are the only main characters who don't appear in the Complete Disaster DVD box cover (pictured at right).
  • She's not even in the cover's 20th Anniversary poster version, which added Splendid to the artwork.
• She is the only main character she has not yet interacted with is Russell.
• In season 3, her alliterate sentence is: Plant plenty of pretty, perfumed, purple and pink flowers!
• As of Royal Flush, her OCD has returned from the TV series, though she didn't freak out in Breaking Wind from Splendid's gas. She may have not realized that the air was contaminated because of Splendid farting.
• Her and Sniffles’ deaths are considered to be the most gruesome in the series.
• She is always wearing an air freshener around her neck, takes five showers a day, and she is always trying to keep herself and her surroundings as clean as possible. These facts seem to indicate that she suffers from mysophobia, or a fear of germs/contamination.
• Despite being a neat freak, in her TV title card, the flowers around Petunia start to die. This is likely meant to be a joke about her being a skunk, as skunks are not particularly known for smelling good.
• She is the only skunk character in the series.
• She has been replaced 3 times on different episodes with Giggles for unknown reasons.
• Even though Petunia was not introduced in the first episode, Spin Fun Knowin' Ya, she appears in most of the episodes.
• Petunia was briefly met with controversy with Wishy Washy, with the portrayal and introduction of her OCD, as some feel this trait of hers plays into the stereotype that all people with OCD are only obsessive about germs and organization.

Design

• Some people have mistaken her for a "squirrel" because of her tail size.
• The marking on Petunia's head is coincidentally identical to the light blue arrow marking on Aang's forehead from the Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender.
• Although the marking on Petunia's back is a triangle most of the time, in earlier episodes, it occasionally changes to a line or disappears completely.
• Even though Petunia doesn't have hair in the show, she was seen with a very long French braid of blonde hair in Dunce Upon a Time.

Rapunzel would be proud.

• Petunia's tail was much bigger in Internet Seasons 1 and 2, but was shrunken down significantly in the TV series and internet episodes from Season 3 thereon.
• In earlier episodes, during Petunia's death, her tail would sometimes turn spiky and rough to display shock (as seen in Keepin' it Reel, Flippin' Burgers and in her smoochie).

Episode Statistics

• She has survived 15 out of the 67 episodes she has appeared in. If she survived her debatable deaths she would have survived in 20 episodes.
• The only TV episodes she does not appear in are "Twelfth Night".
• She appears in all three TV episodes of "Seventh Heaven".
• Petunia has co-starred with Handy (thrice), The Mole, Lumpy (four times), Giggles (thrice), Disco Bear (twice), Toothy (twice), Flaky, Flippy (thrice), Cuddles (twice), Mime (four times), Cub, and Cro-Marmot.
  • She has co-starred with Lumpy and Mime the most.
• She is only of the few characters who star in only one TV episode. The others are Cuddles and Cro-Marmot.
• She has the 5th highest number of appearances (behind Lumpy, Giggles, Cuddles, and Toothy).
• In all three TV episodes Disco Bear starred in, Flaky, Giggles, and Petunia appeared as well as survived.
• In the TV episodes, the only episodes where she appeared without Giggles were Wishy Washy, Take a Hike and A Hole Lotta Love.
• So far her only survived starring role is House Warming.
  • She is one of the three characters who die in almost all of their starring roles, but has survived in one of them. The other characters are Flaky and Lifty.
• Petunia is a featuring character in A Hole Lotta Love, See What Develops and Swelter Skelter despite having very minor appearances in all three episodes.
  • In From Hero to Eternity, As You Wish, Gems the Breaks, Mime to Five, Peas in a Pod, Wrath of Con, and Camp Pokeneyeout, she has appearance roles instead of featuring roles,
  • She has a featuring role in Home Is Where the Hurt Is (along with Lumpy), but she had more of a starring role in that episode.
• In the TV series, Lumpy and Disco Bear appeared in her starring role. All three of them died in that episode.
• She is the only female character to appear without Cuddles in her debut episode.

Kills and Deaths

• Out of all the characters who have more deaths than kills, Petunia has the highest kill count and is the only female character with more deaths than kills.
• Her deaths generally involve her head, explosions, burning, getting crushed, household appliances and kitchen hardware like sinks.
• Most of her injuries involve burning and her face.
• Petunia's deaths are usually considered one of the most gruesome out of all the characters.
• Petunia is the only character to never directly kill another character in her starring roles.
• Out out of Petunia's numerous deaths, the only ones that aren't caused by the other main characters are Eyes Cold Lemonade, Hello Dolly, Doggone It, Wishy Washy, Wingin' It, Read 'em and Weep, Peas in a Pod, Something Fishy, I Nub You, Happy New Year, Reindeer Kringle, and My Better Half.
• Petunia is one of the two characters to die in every Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines episode they appear in. The other character is Handy.
• Cub and Sniffles are her most frequent victims.
• Petunia is the first and only character to deliberately commit suicide (as she skinned herself with a potato peeler in Wishy Washy)

• Petunia is the first character to die in Pitchin' Impossible, Snow What?   • Of the five, she is also the only one who is not the same species as any character, as Toothy and Handy are beavers and Lifty and Shify are raccoons.
  • She is also the only female character to die in every episode where she kills another character.
  • She is also the only one of these 5 in which there is no episode in which she almost kills someone and if she had killed that character, she would not be in the category.
  • Cuddles, Giggles, Nutty and the good side of Flippy could also be in this category if it weren't for the episodes Star Kringle (Cuddles), Dunce Upon a Time (Giggles), False Alarm (Nutty) and Operation: Tiger Bomb (Flippy).
• She was the first to die in the Kringles series.
• Petunia rarely dies after Giggles does. Usually, only Giggles appears in an episode, Petunia dies first, or only Petunia dies. The only episodes in which she dies after Giggles are Flippin' Burgers, Who's to Flame? (Debatable), Home Is Where the Hurt Is, Something Fishy, Royal Flush, You're Kraken Me Up, Ski Ya, Wouldn't Wanna Be Ya! (Debatable), Aw, Shucks!, and Breaking Wind.
  • The only episodes in which she survives while Giggles dies are You're Bakin' Me Crazy and Mime to Five.
• In every episode that features Petunia's obsessive compulsive disorder, said disorder causes her death:
  • Wishy Washy: She tries to clean herself by peeling her skin with a potato peeler.
  • Wingin' It: When she tries to wash her hands, the suction of the drain squeezes out her organs.
  • Home Is Where the Hurt Is: Lumpy sees Petunia through a grate on a floor above her and gets crushed by a fold-in bed. Parts of Lumpy's body falls on her, covering her in blood and chunks of flesh. When she tries to shower, she gets electrocuted because Lumpy unknowingly mixed water pipes with electrical pipes earlier in the episode.
  • Royal Flush: She screams in horror because she sees a little olive on the floor. She accidentally sucks up Mr. Pickels with her vacuum cleaner, causing it to plug. She then puts the nozzle to her eye, causing her brain to get sucked out. When Lammy tries to help her, she explodes when Lammy puts the vacuum on blow.
• She was the first character to die a bloodless death. This occurred in Stayin' Alive.

Superlatives

• She and Cro-Marmot are the only characters, who are not members of a duo, never to star without co-starring with anyone in a regular episode.
• She and Handy were the last characters to debut in 1999.
• She, Russell, and Rudy are the only Happy Tree Friends with actual human names.
  • The human name Petunia is derived from a kind of flower known as petunias. Considering that Petunia herself is often associated with flowers, this naming choice was likely intentional. In fact, the flower on her head looks very similar to a pink petunia flower.
• Petunia is one of the few characters to eat/drink the remains of themselves or another character, the others are Cuddles (thrice), Giggles (four times, one time offscreen), Toothy, Lumpy (twice, one time offscreen), Nutty (twice, one time offscreen), Pop (Offscreen), Cub, Flaky (twice, one time offscreen),The Mole (Offscreen), Russell (Offscreen), and both sides of Flippy (thrice).
  • Petunia was the first character to eat the remains of another character. She ate Shifty (as a hot dog) in Meat Me for Lunch, but didn't realize it until after she felt his eyeball.
• She, The Mole, Handy, Cro-Marmot, and Toothy are the only main characters to not star on their own in the TV series.
• Petunia is one of five main characters whose first appearance, first death and first kill took place in different episodes. The other four are Toothy (Debatable), Cro-Marmot, Handy, and Flaky.
• She is one of the main characters who do not die in their debut episodes, the others being Lumpy, Handy, Lammy, Splendid, Flaky, Cro-Marmot, The Mole, Flippy, Disco Bear, Toothy (Debatable), and Mime.
