Overview

Butter Me Up is the tenth episode of the HTF Break series and the last Happy Tree Friends is dead! short.

Plot

At the snack corner, Giggles happily gets a tub of popcorn and goes to apply some artificial butter flavoring on it. She pushes down on the pump, only to find that no butter comes out. She pushes even harder, only for the hot butter to splash on her face, melting one of her eyes as well as several holes in her skin. As Giggles continues to scream in agony, the popcorn box falls down, showing the usual "Happy Tree Friends is dead!" writing again.

However, at the last second, Lumpy's arm appears holding an pencil, where he uses the eraser side to erase the "is dead!" writing, leaving only "Happy Tree Friends Break".

Injuries

  • Giggles' burns her face by hot butter. She also loses one of her eyes in the process.

Goofs

  1. The "Happy Tree Friends is dead!" writing only appears on the popcorn box close up. It wasn't shown on the first shot, though this is possibly because it was on a different side of the box.

Trivia

  • Along these HTF Breaks was a long hiatus of the show, following See You Later,  Elevator. The "Happy Tree Friends is dead!" message created controversy for fans that the series was being cancelled. However, in this episode, the "is dead!" part was erased. The following episodes, Cheesy Does It and Tunnel Vision, confirmed the end of the hiatus and signaled the making of a new full-length episode.
  • Six Point Harness produced the animation of this Break! episode, and the studio, along with Renegade Animation & Ghostbot will participate on the animation on the series from now on.
  • Giggles' injury is similar to a Nazi's death in "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
    • Also, Giggles' skin melting is similar to the scene in "Star Trek: First Contact" where the Borg Queen melted.
  • Shifty suffers a similar injury in Cheesy Does It.
  • The YouTube thumbnail spoils Giggles' injury.
  • The cries of pain Giggles gives out in this short sound a lot deeper than usual, and the background music sounds like it has been slowed down.
  • This short has the same setting for Bite Sized, except a counter is placed instead of the gumball machine where Nutty got his jawbreaker.
